First thing you'll notice, this album is pretty small, in comparison to the others. Unfortunately, Katrina and I weren't feeling 100%, so we didn't do much. But, the beauty of this trip, it didn't matter. The sole purpose of this stop was to visit family. We did venture out a little bit to Nurtigen town center. The fountain with the bull heads was pretty neat. The amount of vendors at the town's market day was surprising, too, at least to someone not used to such things. We have market days in our town, but we have yet to actually shop them.
We also made it to Stuttgart, where we walked the town, had lunch (of course, I got the schnitzel), and enjoyed the views along the way. While in Stuttgart, we also went into The Stiftskirche, which is an Evangelical-Lutheran Church. We did not attend a service there, I just have added churches to the buildings I like to visit in Europe. One thing you may find, there are a lot of churches over here that are open for the public to walk in. Whatever your reason is for wanting to enter the church, as long as it's respectful to others and the space, it is welcomed.
There is a story about this particular stop that stands out to me. My sister-in-law walked with Katrina and me throughout the church. We came upon statues that appeared to be paying homage to women who passed. As I walked to the foot of this piece I noticed a baby at the lady's feet. It was completely unexpected as her dress garment came to her feet. So, my sister-in-law and I thought that maybe this particular woman died in childbirth. Seems logical, right? We then walked to the next statue, which was laid out in a similar way. However, at her feet was a dog. Our brains probably went into directions they shouldn't have, but we had a difficult time laughing quietly, but we did it! So, now we can only guess as to why the baby and dog were at the feet of these women, pretty much hiding in the bottom of their dress outfits.
Aside from that, The Stiftskirche is a blend of very old, and quite modern. The geometric panels on the ceiling were far from expected, but they added an interesting touch. My favorite part of this visit was the line of armored men standing on animals. Did you miss that part? I did at first. It wasn't until I was editing the photos that I noticed what they were standing on. Nonetheless, the amount of detail was amazing.
So, for not doing much, we still made the best of our trip. We mostly stayed at the apartment and played board games with family, which is something certain family members absolutely love.
One thing to note, while traveling around Germany, your ears will pop a lot. This was part of the problem for Katrina, as she has always and problems with getting her ears to pop.
